Putting Drill

To combat the yips, ( missing short putts that should be nothing to worry about) here is a great drill that I find helps tremenously with pressure putts. Take 10 balls and make a circle around the cup. Use your putter to gauge the distance of each ball. As you move around the circle if you miss a putt, start over. Do this until you are able to complete the drill. This is also a great way to practice high pressure putts. Once you can make 10 putts go to 20, and so on. Remember if you miss start over.

4 Keys To A Power Swing

Here are four more factors that when used together deliver more distance

1. Hit the ball in the center of the club face.

2. The club must have the correct approach angle.

3. The club face must be square at impace.

4. You must striking the ball with an accelerating blow.

Gain Distance

Every golfer wants to hit the ball farther. There are many good ways to increase distance off the tee and fairway. The best way to do this quickly is to hit the ball in the center of the club face.
To do this you will need to make a good swing. To start slow down and try to feel more athletic when you make you swing. Don't try to kill it. All you will accomplish is a miss hit. That is simple not the way to go the distance.
In order to get this feeling, at address let your arms hang straight dow in front of you, take your grip from this position. Draw the club back on a low wide arc( it is important to keep "width" in your backswing at the top), once at the top, you should feel like you are coiling your torso against your lower body.

From here release into the downswing from the ground up. Pushing your weight into the ground, starting with your feet up to your hips. Turning your hips toward the target, imagine you are throwing a punch, fire the right side hard without loosing balance. Finish the swing high in the air. Chest high, belt buckle straight at the target.

Remember start slow to gain balance, once you have gained balance throughout the swing then you can turn it up and only then

The Coil

I Love this picture of David Leadbetter. Its a great way to see how the coil of the torso is executed.

The Coil is the resistance between the shoulder turn and the hip turn. More shoulder turn, less hip turn.

Slicing

There are many causes for a golfer to slice. The most common cause for amatures is coming from the outside in, or over the top. To combat this tendance, mentaly connect your right elbow to your right hip, (for right handers). Left side for lefties. For more great tips on how to cure your slice check out www.ryankorpi.com
